Facebook and Twitter ask for exactly the same phone numbers as Twitter does no?

I have no idea about FB, as I have never registered.
Twitter did not require a phone number, when I signed up.
I got put in detention (for telling the truth about a lefty celeb) and they wanted my ph #, to reinstate.
I said, Nope.
Facebook DOES ask for a phone number before registering you. That is FACT.
So what is the problem if Parler does the same? They are both social media no?
