If you have the time a resources to master it a 357 (hwy patrolman/gp100) will do just about anything you could ever need but learning to shoot Ian’s reload as fast as a semiauto takes time and dedication—I’d say I burned 10k rounds and 3x a week practice getting to that level

I had a S&W 340PD and would practice with .357 all of the time. Got to be pretty good out to 9yds. Just thinking now the number of rounds isn't good enough and I've never done a speed load.

I bought my S&W Mod 28 Highway Patrolman in 1973, carried it on the street till 1981. It became like an extension to my arm. Thousands of rounds thru it, a lot of hand loaded full wadcutters for qualification practice. Nothing fouls like handloaded wadcutters lol.

I still have it, take it out now and then and it feels like old times, every time.

It's a noble chunk of iron.
