“I sat next to Richard Simmons for a long flight. He was a nice enough guy, but way over the top flamboyant.”

I was a flight attendant and had him on one of my fights from Los Angeles to Philadelphia. Yes, flamboyant entering the plane in his little shorts and tank top, but oh so nice!

He was traveling with his manager, Michael. When asked where they were going...Atlantic City for a show two days later. I told them my daughter and I would try to make it. Richard said to give him a phone number, and he’d call to tell us where to pick up tickets. I gave them my daughter’s home phone number.

My daughter and I were going out shopping the next day. I never expected Richard to have time, or even remember me, but I told my son-in-law the story and said... just in case he calls, take the message.

We returned from shopping. My son-in-law said, “Richard called, and you’re to pick up your tickets at the casino box office.”

Upon arrival at the casino, we were dressed in our exercise gear. Women were stopping us saying, “Oh....you must be going to see Richard Simmons! We tried to get tickets, but they’re sold out!”

My daughter and I had a blast! It was so much fun! People there loved him.

That’s how he dressed for my flight too, a bit on the sparkly side. I never thought about going to his show, but that might have been fun.
