The Capital Hill Oppression Park (CHOP) is the antithesis of what “Hashbury” was in the 1960’s. No ideals, and not inclined to be mellow in the least.

Haight-Ashbury was quickly overrun by homeless, thieves, hoodlums, psychos, derelicts, and drug addicts. Overdoses were common, as were rapes. The "Summer of Love" in San Francisco has largely been mythologized in popular culture. The reality was far different.

Sure...it’s free food, handouts and opportunity for criminal activity without consequences.
