Hmm? The sable is a species of marten (weasel) that lives in Russia. Is this a local appellation, maybe having to do with the fur trade?

Sables are carnivorous martens, members of the mustellidae family [ferrets, weasels, ermine, otters, minks and badgers]... no relation to nutria and muskrats which are rodents.
