I hate their parents more, for not punishing acting-out behavior when their children were 5. And I’d like to send them the bill for replacing the monument, only 30 feet higher. If I’m supposed to ‘pay’ for a world that existed 400 years ago, the parents can pay for what their kids are doing now. And I don’t care how old their kids are.

It's not about punishing. It's about teaching respect for others, and being present in their lives. It's also about not having angry parents, or activist parents, or both. Greta Thunberg is a good example of this.
