Well said. I turn off the tv as soon as a rally, news conference, round table etc is over. I do not care about the opinions of anyone on TV. They may not have even watched the entirety anyway. Some members of the White House press corps appear not to even listen to previous answers during press conferences.Talking points is what they focus on.

The rally was terrific. I look forward to many more.

I believe pundits are talking about the silly controversy of “less than expected attendance“ because President Trump orchestrated it that way.

This kind of thing happens too often for it to be an accident. He dangles a “controversy” in front of them as bait - something he doesn’t care about, but they THINK he cares about. In this case attendance.

He sets it up by “boasting“ that they are expecting a half a million Trump supporters to flood into Tulsa for this rally. They take the bait, and fill the airwaves with narratives designed to embarrass him about less than expected attendance.

But who really cares whether he got 9,000 or 19,000? It is a completely harmless story. In fact, it can only help him, since both numbers are impressive - he has them obsessing over an issue that is clearly one of his strengths!

But look what they are not talking about: They aren’t talking about the event inciting white supremacist violence. They aren’t talking about it being a Covid19 “super spreader” event. They aren’t talking about Russia collusion. They aren’t talking about his tax returns. They aren’t talking about his health. They aren’t talking him being sexist or even “unpresidential“.

I am convinced that he does this on purpose.

I worked with a friend in college who ran a little house painting crew. At the end of a job he used to leave a little paint on a first floor window, or a little spill on the patio that needed to be cleaned up. His theory was that the home owner is always going to find one or two things during the inspection - you may as well leave something easy for them to find that doesn’t require a ladder and scaffolding.

I swear President Trump does the exact same thing on a huge scale.
