“RE: I believe India is still using hydroxychloroquine.

So, why are their cases still on the rise?”

People confuse the infection with the disease. You can get infected, immediately fight it off, have zero symptoms, and not even notice. Technically, that is “a case.”

No drug will prevent a single virus particle from being inhaled. Ideally, it is detected, Antibodies attack, but yeah Bingo—a case! They look for the antibodies.

How your body responds is everything. Hydroxychloroquine kicks your immune system into hyper drive. You fight it off much, much better. So asymptomatic cases are higher. Hospitalizations are much lower. It prevents the disease, which leads to death. By kicking the infection’s arse before it damages the body.

But guess what? PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE WILL BECOME INFECTED. EVERONE WILL BE “A CASE.” Some fight so hard their antibodies don’t even increase. Some get ravaged, and die.

Make sense now?

I should have said, without herd immunity, everyone will become infected. Even those vaccinated. Just far fewer will get the disease.
