Sailors don't generally do fragging.

However (and I'll beg JR's concurrence), I'd heard scuttlebutt that one reason for [that individual]'s transfer to the Brown Water Navy was that the Swiftboat had one of the smallest freeboards then afloat. (Outside of subs, of course)

Freeboard = distance from upper deck to waterline.

(That's also the distance an "underperformer" has to accidentally fall from his ship)
