interesting, is the quality that much better than a HD quality web cam?
The typical “HD quality web cam” has a tiny sensor and a tiny plastic lens. Because of demand for quality in expensive phones they have improved a lot in the last few years, but they are still mostly crap compared to a precision made large glass lens and much large sensor. How much difference it adds up to in the final result... I do not know. The cheap video capture device that I purchased despite good reviews will probably not do as good a job as a quality item and the compression used by the video conferencing programs will reduce the quality further. So in the end it is hard to say how much improvement will be noticeable and I will have the ability to optically zoom for closeups.
