I think taking the knee is from football. You take a knee to end a down without getting tackled, usually in garbage time when the game is decided and you’re running out the clock. Kaepernick was a football player. It’s like saying “no contest on this play.”

It works in the game because when any part of your body except your hand touches the ground, and you are touched by a player of the other team, the play is over.

I find it demeaning to do with respect to the flag and the national anthem. It’s like saying, “I’m not playing, this episode is over.”

Football?

Kneeling before a superior power in supplication, surrender, show of fealty is more ancient than even Biblical times. Mentioned repeatedly in both Old and New Testaments.

Strange that with your FR nick you don’t seem to know this....or have you taken that alias from the comic strip rather than the Bible?
