We always knew that the VOA produced propaganda, and very often blatantly misrepresented our country. By the mid 1990s, most cultural depiction was eliminated to give the impression that America was 95% Rock 'n Roll culture.
We discovered that even the liberal BBC had more comprehensive reporting about happenings in the USA than did the VOA. This was true even on issues like the immigration crisis at our southern border. To hear a decent array of reporting about my own country, the USA, I had to move between the BBC, Radio Netherlands, and Deutsche Wella (Germany). I would give details about all of this to our federal representatives.
Radio Australia was much more interesting than VOA in folk entertainment. We used to listen to an An American educated Russian or Ukrainian humorist on Radio Moscow early on Sunday mornings.
The VOA was not really the voice of America. It was, and is propaganda of the elite left.
If you can't eliminate them, control them (from within)
Same goes for the Department of Education. If you can't eliminate it, use is as a weapon. Use it to wipe out the Marxists in Education, and the Anti-American propaganda they spew. Bring back History and Civics. Bring back the pledge of Allegiance. Don't like it? Lose all federal funding. This is what the Left does. You want to destroy the Left? Use their tactics against them. Trump is doing it, and it works.

Having followed the history of VOA from its inception during WWII until today, I have always been amazed at what a pit of Leftism it became. Joseph McCarthy, even then, was vilified for calling it out.
I am going to guess both of these people were Leftists, without reading the article. Now I will take a look.

If they showed all sides of an issue, we might accept that BS. I have never listened to VOA, but I'll bet they don't.
Furthermore, the VOA was not meant to be an "impartial news source". It was meant to be a truthful news source, and even more so, to spread the message of the good that a Constitutional Republic like the United States is capable of, to give hope to people around the world, and we pay our tax dollars to do that, not to provide them with an America-hating news outlet that listeners can tune into on their own dime.
