OMG it’s a fictional movie. Even I think it paints the confederates too positively. Which lead me to take interest in the actual history. See - that’s what sane people do. They see a fictional movie, and apply a little grain of salt to it.

GwtW was actually an attempt to mitigate Birth of a Nation and was as "woke" as Hollywood dared to be for the time. It just shows how much the cultural goalposts have been shifted since then.
