"Once I removed that, bingo, everything works." Sorry to hear that... Here I was all set to post that: you have no need for either "wireless" or "wired" access as long as you have enough duct tape... {;-)

I do have a hard drive programmed up with Linux, and trust me, with the way MicroThief is going I’ve been so tempted to perform a “Format C:” on my W10 & W7 hard drives!

In Windows, check the firewall configuration for your connection. Every time you connect to a network, you get the toast message on the right side asking if you want to allow your computer to be discovered by other devices on the network. If you clicked "No," it put that connection in the "Public" firewall profile which restricts network communication. Change your network firewall profile Thanks. Need to check this later....

He installs a wireless system and it broadcast out at least 300 feet around his home.
Make sure you have a strong password or someone will hack into your network.
BTW if you do get a new router then get a Chinese one, they’re the best : )

I just bought an old thinkpad, the series of which the majority have been switched to Libreboot. I’m not that crazy about switching to a novice status, so I will stay with windoze.
