Juneteenth is a celebration day because it is the day slaves were declared free. Maybe only in Texas? There are celebrations in most towns of any size here.
“Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day and Cel-Liberation Day, is an American holiday celebrated on June 19. It memorializes June 19, 1865, when Union general Gordon Granger read orders in Galveston, Texas, that all previously enslaved people in Texas were free.”

It’s celebrated in Colorado, too.

Way more legit than the totally fake Kwanzaa.

Life long Texan, yes I have heard of Juneteenth. No lie, traditional celebration includes going to the lake and having watermelon and red soda.

Yes, only in Texas. The Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Lincoln on Sept. 22, 1862 (to be effective Jan. 1, 1863), but no one in Texas knew about it until June 19, 1865 when it was read in Galveston. News travelled slowly in those days. It took 2 1/2 years!

Doesn’t really look like a big flux to me-and Friday is often larger isn’t it? Couldn’t it just be that they are doing more testing?

All of the above.

If you tweet, check out this thread...good discussion:

The video of George Floyd’s murder shows that those bastards may have called, not an ambulance, but the coroner PRIOR to his moment of death. No siren, no attempted CPR, no EMT.— Randy Quaid (@RandyRRQuaid) June 13, 2020

It's been called the Great Awokening, safetyism, cancel culture, etc etc. I have a new name for it: the 1793 Project. What began on the campuses is now in the newsrooms and workplaces, and it's devotees are entering their Reign of Terror phase. https://t.co/R9AtyUdL1x— Robby Soave (@robbysoave) June 12, 2020

Part of the taxes they pay goes to police protection.

Part of the Insurrection Act is that the federal government can step in where state and local governments fail to act, in order to preserve citizens' "Equal protection under the law" guaranteed under Amendment XIV of the Constitution.
