Will the next to be censored into oblivion by BLM be H.P. Lovecraft? (vanity)

I was re-reading "The Call of Cthulhu" last night and could not stop thinking about how much this story would have had some screaming for Lovecraft's head had it been published in 2020 and not 1928. The use of "Negro" in the negative sense is pervasive. Indeed throughout his works there are blatantly racial connotations about blacks and other minorities. A cat in "The Rats in the Walls" is named Nigger Man. Semites and Orientals also get referenced in less than favorable terms in his mythology.

Lovecraft died in 1937 at the age of 46 and in decades since he has become one of the most influential writers of horror and science-fiction to ever set pen to paper. Will he be the next writer that the progressives are screaming should be banished from sight and mind?

He’ll be high on the list for sure. Eventually they will go for almost everything that existed before their takeover.

During his time there was a huge fear of the “outsider” That what all the monsters are - outsiders, aliens, foreigners, strangers with different faces reflecting the fear of the time he wrote in. The “Zeitgeist” if you will.

I don’t think we need to worry about that for a while, because to even be aware of Lovecraft would require... Literacy.

Eventually, unless the FedGov comes down on this crap in a very big way - like in the 60s, every book written will either be banned or burned.

My mom has a cookbook called “Ni—ertoe Cookbook”. It’s all about cooking with Brazil nuts. It’s 80+ years old.

Good point.

They can't even read a book about basic gardening. Probably much less a short story about incomprehensible evil beyond man's reckoning.

“The Rats in the Walls” is named Nigger Man.”

One of the truly terrifying tales written by Lovecraft, along with Dreams in the Witch House.

Back in 1962, I was reading Lovecraft in Carlsbad High School and one of the girls laughed at me for reading it. I then challenged her to read the first story, “TE RATS IN THE WALLS.” She did, and cussed me out good and said she could not sleep at night for hearing the “rats”.

Still got his books and read them often.

They’re remaking the movie about the dam busters. Only problem, Wing Commander Guy Gibson’s dog’s name. It was a black dog.
