Fish, birds, critters overjoyed
Lived near Lake Winnebago for 10 years. Caused a disgusting mess. Swarms looked like rain clouds.
In Wisconsin last week fishing on the Chippewa River... the May flies were in the air and the Dragon flies were “attacking” and picking off the May flies in flight! It was like watching a war between the two insects. Great time. The Dragon flies did not go hungry!
I grew up in St. Clair Shores, MI, a burb of Detroit. Every Summer these guys (we called ‘em Fish Flies,) would show up and cover everything.
In High School I had a dishwashing job, and at night these critters would congregate under the street lights. I had to ride my bike through them and it was slipperier than ice.
And to think some people voluntarily live there....
I worked with air traffic control radar. Sometimes we didnt see aircraft on radar. I would be very surprised, if ATC radar sees bugs.
OMG we were on the Intercoastal Waterway when we had our Mayfly apocalypse. They just swarmed unmercifully! And here we are, in a boat, NO WAKE ZONE, and no place to exit the hell out of there. We had no choice but to low ride down the waterway. One of the worst experiences of my life as a boater!
