One of the participants in that robbery was Kathy Boudin. During the effort to apprehend the criminals, two Nanuet police officers, Chip Brown and Edward OGrady, were murdered. In the original robbery, one of the Brinks truck drivers was also killed; his name was Peter Paige.
When she was stopped in a truck that was being used as a getaway vehicle, Kathy Boudin convinced officers that she was innocent of any wrongdoing, and talked them into putting down their heavy weapons. After they did so, her compatriots who were in the back of the truck emerged to ambush the officers. They were armed with military weapons. It was in the ensuing firefight that officers Brown and O'Grady were killed.
Kathy Boudin accepted a plea deal in which she admitted guilt in exchange for a 20-year prison sentence.
In 2008, Kathy Boudin became a professor at Columbia Universitys School of Social Work.
Her son Chesa, who she dropped off at day care before participating in the Brinks robbery, is currently the District Attorney of San Francisco.
I grew up near the Nanuet Mall. To this day every Clarkstown, NY police officer, every NYPD detective and FBI agent involved in that case have very good reason to believe Bill Ayers and Bernie Dhorn had some involvement. Aside from the atrocity of it all, this crime was committed with ILLEGALLY OBTAINED FIREARMS. And most of the perpetrators already had felonies on their records and had no business laying a finger on a gun. Yet not one peep of outrage from the gun grabbers of the day. Not from the Brady Campaign, Handgun Control Inc,for any hack politicians or celeb a-holes, who were still raising hell over the shooting of John Lennon. I learned early on how the left thinks they’re slick when it comes to picking and choosing their battles.
