Of course that person who graduated 250/250 was still in the top 1-5% of their undergraduate class, scored at the top of the MCAT tests and passed 4 years of rigorous academic and clincal training.
Actually this statement about what you call the guy who graduates last jn medical school as doctor it pretty disgusting.
Yes there are bad docs
But when you get a doc assigned in a hospital he or she has
1. Passes all three United States medical licensing examinations. They are administered at the end of the 2nd and 4th year is medical school. Failure to pass means you do not advance. The third exam is as the end of the internship year
2. The physician has completed an accredited residency which is anywhere between 3 and 6 years postdoctoral.
3. Is you have a specialist then they have completed a fellowship
In order to practice in a hospital you must be board certified in your Primary residency and then boarded in your specialty.
This is two more nationally standardized exams
Then If you graduated after 2000 you are required to maintain your certification by stringent continuing education and examination every 10 years
The bottom line is medicine is the most stringently examines and regulated of all professions. While there is considerable spread in competence among lawyers and other professionals this is not the way it is in medicine.
Dont get me wrong. There are idiots who make it through. But they are few and far between. Finally we are the most sure profession as the legal cock roaches and scum sucking bottom dwelling personal injury lawyers drive a lot of the issues.
Most people would not last eight seconds under the scrutiny that physicians take.
