As far as pit maneuvers go... MOST are unnecessary. A very dangerous maneuver.
Unless they know it’s a murderer, violent offender, do not pit!
It isn’t worth risking injury or death over a stolen car. Too often pit maneuvers end up in rollovers. They can also impact bystanders and other innocent drivers.
Not to mention all the damage to police cars.

Agree. PIT maneuvers have a high failure rate and often the police wreck into other vehicles or obstacles. It is shocking at how much the scale of response escalates for a stolen vehicle. Many departments have implemented a chase coordinator that is listening and watching the chase but not directly involved with the power to stop the action. New technology should render most high speed changes moot.

The guy was illegally camping on someone’s private property. When asked to leave they got into a shoving match and the guy fled. The problem was a double murder occured close to the incident and he became a suspect.
