My optimism is based on my religious belief.
Also, there are way too many armed and trained conservatives in the country. And the military is still under the command of a CIC that is on the side of sanity.
If Trump loses in November, I predict mayhem the likes of which the US has NEVER seen. This is not a threat. I’m quite safe (relatively speaking) in my 32 acre patch in rural KY. In fact, the one, single thing that suggests to me this could get real bad is that the Lord motivated me to purchase this place in 2008, two weeks before the election, and move here in August of 2011. Perhaps he was preparing us for the inevitable.
But I also think that the MSM has lost its grip on the collective consciousness and has actually overplayed its hand. This includes stuff like the Social media bannings that can’t be hidden. Enough of us see what is going on. It can’t be hidden.
Thank you. Agreed on all data points, and certainly our shared faith has to be the only real authority here. Alas, what I see in Scripture, however, doesn’t really comfort me in terms of avoiding the destruction of cities, massive bloodshed, brother killing brother, etc.
Civilization - meaning prosperity, the rule of law, culture, a free church - are only given to us by God’s grace. They are truly gifts and they come with stewardship responsibilities. It seems that humanity over a three or four generation cycle tends to worship the gift, not the Giver of the gift and that will cause the gifts to fall by the wayside.
On another note....since you are in rural KY...have you read much Wendell Berry? Love that guy.
