She’s getting older, and less likely to get good parts in Hollywood. Saying things like this will endear her to the Hollywood liberals who make movies and TV shows. This shows that she is down with the struggle.

She is...tried to run for Congress in Michigan, home state of her husband (actor Timothy Busfield) in 2018; had to pull out of the primary due to needed treatment for an old back injury, or something to that effect. In reality, her opponent exposed the fact that Ms. Gilbert, despite a decades-long career and million$ in earnings, owed hundreds of thousands of dollars in back taxes to the feds and the state of California. Not sure how much progress she’s made in paying that debt, since I don’t see her on TV much these days. At last report, she was supposed to have the debt paid off by 2024!!

One more little anecdote, to give you some idea of what a POS Ms. Gilbert is. The part of Willie Oleson was played by her brother, Jonathan. He’s now a stockbroker in suburban New York and hasn’t spoken to his sister in more than 20 years (Mr. Gilbert is now 48 years old). Can only imagine what happened to prevent siblings from talking to each other for better than two decades. Given her history, it probably involves money.

Ms. Gilbert was extremely lucky to land that role on “Little House”—it made her career. And by all accounts, Michael Landon ran a happy set; virtually every actor who appeared on the show said it was a great experience compared to other production companies. Mr. Landon was also a patriot and I’m sure he would be sorely disappointed in how “Half Pint” turned out.
