VP candidates are supposed to provide 2 things. First, a guarantee that the team will win the VP’s home state, as though they are a “favorite son/daughter” of that state. They should draw in a few votes themselves, by being on the ticket. Second, assurance to the voters that if they ascend to the presidency for whatever reason, it will be okay.
I think Mike Pence fills those roles for Trump.

The 3 electoral votes from.DC are already in the Democrat column.
She’s not well known nationally. Maybe she fills the identity politics boxes by being both black and a woman, for those Democrats who are so interested in that.
I bet shes on the VP short list.
