My nephew worked at the Apple Store for a while and he told me that any device there of significant value is bricked and totally useless to anybody who might endeavor to steal them.

Apple has this down to a science.

Now automobiles are getting some of the same technology. I just bought a Subaru that is about impossible to steal successfully. As soon as I report it stolen, the car can be immobilized (unable to start) and will report its GPS location to law enforcement.

Someone would have to crack my passcode and get around my biometric signature.

A bricked iPhone/iPad is worthless to a thief.
