Ok but just to play devils advocate Donald Trump hosted his own reality show so where does that put us and him. I never watched his show so can anyone defend it as being not the usual?

"The Apprentice", which I have never watched, is inherently subjective, whereas a quiz show isn't supposed t be. The forerunner to the "Bachelor" was "The Dating Game", and at the end of the program, right on the screen, it states that the young ladies were provided with questions. In real life, a young woman in the '60s might ask questions about home life and religious practices if she were serious, not "What kind of tree are you?" The producers wanted to make those flaky questions be the center of the show.

"The Apprentice" is entertainment, not a contest in the way that Fischer-Spassky is a contest, but more of a contest than WWE wrestling. No one has accused Trump of misrepresenting anything on t"The Apprentice", as far as I know.

Most of your post I don’t really understand; but to the question re Trump’s show, it was a reality show, therefore...my post. I never watched it, as your “us and him” suggests. But I’d rate it as a descendant of the 50’s hoax, along with the others. And just FYI, playing “devil’s advocate”, to me, is just another way of separating yourself from your beliefs to seem impartial, as is saying “some people would say...”
