Give me some CAB CALLOWAY, or THE COASTERS, DINAH WASHINGTON, FATS DOMINO any day over this modern trash.
Old time African American artists’ records....
I was surprised to see in ads in Record Collector magazine that there are specialty companies that sell many different cds of barely remembered artists of the 40s and 50s. Blues (my favorites) , old style R & B, early rock. As Mississippi Sheiks reissues on Yazoo label.
Don’t even think Amazon has some of them. Only place I saw the magazine was (past tense) Barnes & Noble.
Amen. I go a bit further and stop in the 80’s. How a race who produced Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, The Supremes, Ojays, Temptations, Spinners, 4 Tops, etc can come up with the absolute rap crap filth they have been listening to for the past 40 years, is beyond me, But then again Rock is dead as well.
Dinah Washington-lived hard and died too young, but what a voice and what style!!!
