We learned that in Minnesota the National Guard, State Police, and the local Police turned and ran and left the citizens to defend for themselves. So I have a couple of questions for our “Protect and Serve” authorities. (Vanity)

1. What determines the point at which you will turn and run and abandon the citizens you have sworn to protect and serve?

2. Can you draft a policy which gives the citizens a clear understanding of when you will turn and run? This is vital to the community because they need as much notice as possible to arm, organize, and deploy to have a chance to overcome the threat.

3. Hypothetically, suppose a crowd of thousands of thugs approaches a community and you turn and run and abandon your citizens. The next day, thousands of bodies of thugs are stacked like cord wood. Since you chose to abandon your positions, are you now obligated not to investigate, and arrest and prosecute the citizens who defended their homes and lives when you wouldn’t?

Your mistake is in assuming the phrase means to protect and serve others.

Where were all the he man toys and the he man types last night? Oh I know. THEY RAN AWAY!

They're waiting for the REAL threats to America.

Let's not forget that Obama called out SWAT on Tea Party mobs.

Should rioters be handled with the 3 s rule, just like wolves, or no?

Shadow 44 nailed it here: "We live anarcho-tyranny. The state will not protect you from criminals and will imprison you for defending yourself."

Isn’t it interesting how quiet the Police Unions have been through all this?

Yeah, I don’t know man. Looking at those dangerous hombres sends chills down my spine. I would lose sleep knowing they would be walking around free.

3. Hypothetically, suppose a crowd of thousands of thugs approaches a community and you turn and run and abandon your citizens. The next day, thousands of bodies of thugs are stacked like cord wood . . .

With proper planning, all video from such problem solving would have been erased before the cowards returned. I would hope that there would be no witnesses willing to help effete lawyers in second guessing the survival decisions made by decent, hard-working Americans when faced with violent thugs.

I am, in general, not a defender of the police. The reasons for that belong on another thread.

But here I will defend them. The cops in this instance are greatly outnumbered. And I’m sure they were given orders to minimize the use of force. If either factor were not present, I would be critical of the police.

But both factors are present. So I’ll direct my criticism to the mayor and governor instead.

Exactly! And what you wrote means the terrorists are simply the ‘unattributed’ army of the government while the police are the recognized army of the government.

The police are not required to protect and serve, already been adjudicated years ago.

You forgot to include regarding the officers etc.... ‘the Mayor ordered them to leave’.

Frey said “the scene was too dangerous for the officers to reMain”

It was the Castle Rock ruling that caused police to remove the ‘protect and serve’ slogan from their vehicles

You can thank Mayor Frey for ordering the officers to leave.

Looters and arsonists should be shot.

Yep, honestly I do not care if they cut and run. Just do not come back and throw me in jail after I pile up those that would do me harm.

Many are under the false assumption that officers of the law are there to protect you. They are not, nor are they legally obligated to do so.

If 1000s of bodies of thugs are stacked like cordwood, the authorities wouldn’t dare prosecute because they would soon be joining the thugs.

Cops are not there to protect you, they are there for the People of the State.

Here is a hint, you are not the People.

It is not in the interests of the State to limit the riots at this time. If they start to get to the “elite” areas, you will see a whipsaw backlash.

If you, by yourself, try to defend your property or life the State will destroy you and all that you care about. The rioters will not be held accountable.

In short, the Cops are not your friend. You are not a cop, not their immediate family, and don’t give them orders.

Plan accordingly. But realize if you choose to defend yourself, you will be attacked by the cops who are standing by while you are assaulted.
