That truck driver was Reginald Denny.
He had been driving a company dump truck, delivering sand to a job site.
The truck had no radio and Denny didn’t know that a riot had started.
Well, he got stopped and pulled from his truck and beaten so badly that his skull was busted into over 90 pieces with some pieces embedded into his brain.
(claw hammer and brick)
A permanent crater remains in his forehead despite efforts to correct it.
The guy suffered major damage.
And at the trial, he hugged the mothers of the defendants, claiming they were "just bad guys." He went on Phil Donahue's show, and shook hands with one of his attackers...Henry Keith Watson, who was acquitted of attempted murder, but convicted of misdemeanor assault. Watson was supposed to have apologized, and Denny supposedly forgave him. Phil Donahue, trying to incite division said to Denny: ″Wed just be a lot happier if youd be a little more bitter.″
