Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman on Friday announced murder and manslaughter charges that allege a former Minneapolis police officer killed George Floyd an act caught on video and seen around the world that sparked days of violent and destructive demonstrations across the Twin Cities.
Derek Chauvin, 44, was arrested late Friday morning and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter four days after he pinned his knee on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes Monday at the intersection of E. 38th Street and Chicago Avenue as the unarmed and handcuffed man told him he couldn't breathe. Chauvin is being held in the Ramsey County jail. Authorities have not explained why he was booked in a jail located other than in the county where he was charged.

Even Ray Charles doesn't need 'Carnac the Magnificent' to figure this out.
Guess the bloodthirsty ones want the guy to be held in his victims house.
'They' will probably gripe if it is revealed he is under suicide watch and in a separate cell.
I would imagine the trials will be held away from the M/StP area also.
Future headline:
The trial will start Mon 10 AM, with the execution in the town square at 1200.
interesting he shaved off the tough-guy stubble
I wonder if he still thinks "I'm following proper police procedure" attitude like he had last Monday.
“I’m worried more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow.”
One thing favorable for the defendant: it appears the first degree murder claim has crumbled.
Another favorable thing for the defendant: it appears the second degree murder claim has crumbled.
Another favorable thing for the defendant: the prosecutor has released some exculpatory findings.
One worrisome thing: continued calls for lynch law on Free Republic.
That’s just my educated guess.
Well, I’ll say that if I was him, I’d be really darn worried.
Not necessarily about my upcoming trial, but what might happen before that.
Here is a person that is going to require significant protective custody.
How quickly things change.
I think the actions of the police were sickening but I want to say that the Freeper lynch mob should be happy and the rest, as they say, is cherry on top as America burns to the ground. The left is winning this. Floyd was the bait and the next great crisis after Corona. We navel gaze as the left conspires constantly and can turn any crisis to political gold.
As in "Derek Chauvin didn't kill himself"?
Oh jeez, you had to go there.
Boy, oh boy what a fine mess this is.
I wonder how many times he has bounced her off the wall.
Crazy eyes.
Hope he gets sent to Joliet.
The brothers will take good care of him there.
wish i was his lawyer..id destroy this case in an hour.....
I'd just lain down to go to sleep and Godzilla's Quick snapshot of the extent of rioting tonight floated through my mind.
Followed by "Three days until an assassination attempt"...
>>Crazy eyes<<
Those are the eyes of a man who is envisioning what his life is about to look like in the months/years to come.
He crossed a line he shouldn’t have crossed.
Tell it to the people!

Just looking at that list, everyone of those is a Democrat run city, it appears.
2020 is going to be a year to remember.
It's humbling. Or should be, lol. No one is guaranteed even one more breath.
The criminal complaint, citing the autopsy, said that Floyd did not die from strangulation but a combination of being restrained along with various underlying medical conditions including heart disease and hypertension.
Technically, this is not precisely accurate.
The autopsy revealed no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation. Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease. The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by the police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death.
That does not actually say what Floyd died from. It says three things that likely contributed to his death, while noting no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation. The final autopsy may find, for example only, that Floyd died of a heart attack, and that the restraint by police, and Floyd's health conditions and intoxicants likely were contributing factors.
That would not be quite the same as a finding that the cause of death was all of those factors. Those would only be likely contributing factors to the cause of death, but not what he died from, the cause of death.
A finding of a heart attack could also mean that it was the heart attack that rendered Floyd unconscious, calling into question if Officer Chauvin ever exerted enough force to the location which would do so.
The final autopsy may find more strongly, but this preliminary report only states that the police restraint was one of several likely contributing factors. That alone would not establish beyond a reasonable doubt that any specific one of the cited factors was, in fact, a contributing factor to the cause of death.
