I thought once it might but photos and questions have been all over the Internet for so many years his family and everyone he knows has likely seen them. The homosexuality is immaterial to everyone except his family. But he broke or circumvented the laws of another country for his own gain when he adopted his Irish-born children through Brazil, if that’s what he did.
As the Chief Justice of the USSC, it’s arguable that he’s the top judge in the top country of the world and would probably have to resign after the adoption information was revealed.
It’s also possible that since he was nominated by George W. Bush, who we now know is definitely a derp, that he’s always been a derp too, as you suggested. He or the media hid it well so his nomination was well-received, but since he started serving, he’s merely being true to his character.
