A 61-year-old Pennsylvania woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with theft and abuse of corpse for allegedly hiding her dead grandmothers body in a freezer for 15 years so she could collect the womans Social Security benefits, state police said.
Cynthia Carolyn Black of York County had told police during their more than yearlong investigation that she had found Glenora Reckford Delahay dead inside their home in the Delaware County section of Ardmore in March 2004, police said.
Black carried the body to the basement and put it in a freezer because, she said, she needed her grandmothers Social Security income.
The grandmother was 97 when she died.
Black told police that three years after her grandmothers death, she moved the freezer with the body to Dillsburg, York County, and used the Social Security income to pay the mortgage on a home.

She stole over $350K, but her bail is only $10K?
A woman’s privilege happens again.
She was sloppy. Should have disposed of the body long ago.
It pays to plan ahead, and to keep the plans flexible to adapt to changing circumstances...
No kidding. Usually those gov't workers are sharp as tacks.
Gotta read the whole story friend. According to the story the SSA had nothing to do with locoming in to it. she was discovered this way:
“According to a report by WHTM-TV in Harrisburg, Delahays body had been found by two women who had been inspecting the Kralltown Road home because they were interested in buying it from the bank after it foreclosed. The potential buyers had told police they were looking around in an outbuilding when they discovered remains wrapped in trash bags and under blankets in a white chest freezer, the TV station reported.”
So the government has enormous surveillance powers over all of its citizens but it can’t figure out a computer program that would allow it to find oddities in checks going out to Social Security recipients.
It makes sense,
Grandmother was 97 when she died so Her Granddaughter was around 46 then (depending on the Month).
So 46 years from her birth Grandma was 51 years old, when this human debris was born. So Mama had to be mother sometime in her what 20’s 30’s at the latest.
Yes, and then tell them that she moved to Guyana with a friend 16 years ago and she hasn't heard from her. It would be cool for the Fed boys to be searching the jungles of Guyana for her. lolol.
Guilty
With driver’s licenses etc they used to make you come into the office at least every 8-10 years.
No wellness check?
Social Security buys predominantly Democrat votes. So many people forget that. Once they learn that, then they will know why so much corruption and fraud occurs there (and with other Federal agencies as well).
Wonder if it took three days to thaw her out, like it did Frankie Carbone?
They do. SSA managers are supposed to contact every recipient over age 100 annually. If the recipient is over a certain age and hasn't used Medicare in a certain amount of time, the manager is supposed to make a face to face contact.
I imagine there's a manager or two who's got some 'splainin to do.
“”more than yearlong investigation””
They’re kidding. What took so long? Did they have to make sure the grandmother didn’t crawl into the freezer to commit suicide?
Police issued an arrest warrant for Black on Tuesday, but did not say why the investigation took more than 15 months. She was taken into custody Wednesday and brought to the York County Judicial Center, where she was arraigned. She has a tentative preliminary hearing scheduled for June 10.
Any person who filed a 2018 income tax return who died in 2019 would have received the stimulus check too.....
she’s a woman
she will get s v-pass
An easy audit would be no claims on Medicare after eligible age. Just set a time limit and trigger a proof of life.
Many of these govt give always could avoid fraud with some simple data based audits. But Congress has blocked them to allow fraud.
It’s near Haverford College. Only a few miles from Villanova. Homes in this area are not cheap. I don’t see how anyone on Social Security can afford the property taxes. This woman must have a lot of extra income besides her deceased grandmothers SS checks.
SSA? More people in govt. jobs they are not capable of doing.
“Cynthia, dear, it’s cold in here.”
“Shut up, or I’ll take out the little light bulb, too.”
