As others have mentioned, the only innocent is the dog who thankfully will be in a new home. The lady was chocking her dog.

My curiosity is more about where this woman was born and raised...

I grew up in the south, but have lived in the north for more than 30 years....

I saw far more, open and flagrant racism in the 1st year I lived in the north, than I did in all my years living in the south.

This is like playground taunting and then was escalated by the Black guy who wanted a scene instead of walking away.

If I see a dog that should be leashed, I might remind the person of the regulation. In this case, the Black “birder” was upset and should have either mentioned it and left or just ignored it.

The woman was also at fault but I believe was angered by the camera. She obviously was a beotch and frankly shouldn't have a dog the way she yanked the dog around by the neck.

Things like this happen all the time. The woman never should have injected race, but that's what liberals do.

The worst part of this entire episode was The Gayle King CBS This Morning reaction. She equated this with Black Lynchings, a bit overboard. But Gayle see’s race in every story, just like NorDUH O'Donnell saw gender in every story.

I would not hesitate to kill any animal I felt was a threat to my young children....

I don’t care if it is a chihuahua or a mastiff, or anything in between.

Owner would get one very stern, and cordial warning... after that, it would have one less pet.

I had two women bosses. One was the best boss I ever had. The other was the worst boss I ever had.

Yes, Ms. Cooper would rank solidly among the worst.

I agree completely about women obsessed with their dogs’ “rights!” while they stand with the dog at the end of its elastic leash pooping on your lawn or front steps. They make life in a townhouse community absolute hell. They ruin others’ expensive plantings, as if dog pee is a fertizlizer (it is not; it kills grass and plants) and are verbally aggressive and hostile no matter how nicely you ask them to respect your property.

Nasty or neurotic dog behavior is a direct reflection of the person who owns the dog.

I would have to side with the birder on this one. He saw the false accusation coming. I have seen this kind of incident happen.

I agree. You can't blame a black person for protecting themselves from a someone who is demonstrating and insisting that her agenda is above the rules.

Disagree. He is a birdwatcher who comes to that protected area with a designated sign, and in which taxpayer money has been invested, to see the birds. Wildlife protection areas need to be free of dog poop and dog urine since they are danger aromas that birds will avoid, thus ruining the birdwatching experience for everyone. He pointed out that there were other areas for her to walk her dog but she insisted she was going to use that spot even though the sign said "no dogs." He was trying to be the good citizen to preserve a nature area. She was in the wrong and then doubled down.

Not only that but by his account her unleashed dog was running through the underbrush and as you said he politely told her that other areas of the park allowed for dogs and even unleashed dogs.

She was obviously the aggressor here as she ran up to him and he had to ask her not to.

Are you asking why I think he’s manipulative? Read his Facebook post at the link. He took it upon himself to be an un-appointed hall monitor. He tried to manipulate the woman by calling her dog to him. He even admits he comes prepared to do this. Plus, he played the race card. That’s the ultimate manipulation. None of this lets her off the hook. They deserve each other.

It’s possible to think they’re both bad actors, you know. He is in fact a race card playing, manipulative jerk. Not sure why you would side with someone like that. You don’t have to side with one or the other.

Do you have a link for your claim that birds avoid areas with dog feces and urine?

I was so shocked by how much flagrant racism I saw when I first moved north, I actually started to wonder if I was just imagining it... had I been blind all my years growing up in NC???

Moved up hear in 10th grade, within a few weeks of moving here, someone burned a cross on the next hill over from our school, during a football game where our team was playing a primarily black school right in the middle of the game.

When I was doing real estate years ago, whenever I would buy a property to rehab or rent , the first question the neighbors would ask me if it was a white neighborhood would be if I was going to sell or rent it to blacks.

I was cleaning out a rental, between tenants and found once of those cheap plastic pools in the shed, perfectly good, but I had no use for it. It was the middle of summer, so I walked over to a neighbor who had their door open and knocked on the door... This little old italian lady came to the door... nice enough lady... I explained that I owned the house down the street and had found this pool and if she knew of any families in the block who might want it.. yes it was only a $10 pool but still, I hated to throw it away... So we talked for a little bit.. then she asked me if my new tenants were black... I replied, yes they were nice young couple... and her reply, without missing a beat was “Oh, that’s okay sweetie, I can live with the devil.”

I never personally met a member of the KKK until I lived in the north.

I am not remotely saying racism doesn’t exist everywhere, there will always be racists, but the sheer level and flagrant openness of it is far far more prevalent here than I ever saw in the south. (and it goes both ways too.. believe me).

In the south my experience was far more, GENERALLY, live and let live... if someone didn’t care for members of another race, they certainly had their feelings, but weren’t overt about it... would just avoid them (black and white), and if they had to interact with them, would do so politely most of the time. Up here, those that hate, just hate, and make no qualms, apologies, or even try to live and let live in my experience.

Anyway to confirm I wasn’t just imagining things I checked the FBI statistics... took a while to get them, since this was the 80s and the internet as we know it did not exist, but once I found them, my observations were confirmed, there were far far far more “hate” organizations active in PA than there were in NC.

So I just have to laugh whenever I hear liberal yankees wax about the backwards and racist south... because truly there is FAR FAR FAR more open hate above the mason dixon line in my experience than below it. But have to feel superior and egalitarian to be a Liberal today... so.... they will never open their eyes.

Heh, we had a crazy neighbor at our last house. We returned her dog’s poop to her yard. She quit letting it poop in our yard. I don’t miss her.
