Women aren't confused, they are reverting to their natural state when not buoyed. There is a reason women were subjugated through most of history. We see the proof all around us everyday.
The irony is, they are as unhappy as ever. I think women, as a whole, are just prone to unhappiness and dissatisfaction. There is probably a biological purpose for this. To push men. (Cause let's face it, most men need pushing-another post) And men are need to reign in and control the outward manifestations of that reappearing dissatisfaction.

This country began its long, inexorable decline , first, when voting was extended to all men and second (and more so) when voting was extended to women.

That happened to my cousin, back in the 90s. She hooked up with an Iranian Muslim in California. In her case, and I suspect in many cases, the family was very much against it. She continued the relationship, to spite everyone. She moved to Iran, and learned their language. Later, somehow she managed to escape Iran, with her child. She didn’t want to talk much about it, just that she had escaped Iran. How many others go for these guys, just to spite others?

When I mention “cultural differences from theirs”, I’m not just talking about middle-eastern hook-ups. Even among Americans there are differences in people’s fundamental cultures and upbringings that are entrenched in their lives. And that’s fine; it’s even good and can be respected on a certain level. It’s just that when the differences are “fundamental”, it’s hard to re-think and re-adjust to make a good relationship.
