LOL! It’s true that the Russians bombed the Berlin zoo...I believe there was a big AA battery nearby. There were definitely battles there when the Russkies were moving in but I doubt that Herr Hilter had time for pet adoption!

I thought I had seen in documentaries that the Berlin zoo was pretty well cleaned out by the time the Russians got there.

The Berliners were starving.

If it was an American alligator, maybe he was sent to Germany on a mission to eat Hitler, but never had an opportunity.

The Berlin Zoo was destroyed during the RAF's nighttime raids on Berlin on 22 and 23 November 1943.

The Russians may have attacked the location of the zoo, but it was a zoo in name only; the animals had been gone for some 18 months before the Russians arrived.
