I’ve discovered on my many hikes that I can make anybody get out of my way simply because I don’t wear a mask on the trail. I just stride down the trail and everybody gets out of the way...many get ten feet off into the weeds.
A young Chinese-American mom won first prize a week ago. She was hiking up the hill with little boy, about four. She saw me coming down the trail (a pretty steep one with a good drop-off and lots of poison oak all around) and told her little boy “Now face the imaginary wall.” They stopped, turned their backs to me, and looked out over the canyon below. I have to hand it to her for creativity with her little guy, but she’s probably raising a complete neurotic.
I have relatives who have not come out of their house for 8+ weeks. They have a 4 year old son. They allow his grandmother to sit on the front porch, and talk to him through the screen door. These people will never live that down. Never...
Imaginary wall? She’s raising a street mime.
