I can confirm.

On a personal note, which I rarely talk about, I was once married to an abusive malignant narcissist (though I didn't know what that was at the time). Attacks by him were mind-bending and reality-distorting. In the middle of these things, I always questioned, "Did that really just happen?" "Did he really just say that?" "Did he really just do that?" Because he would instantly deny what he seconds ago said and did. "I never said that!" "I never did that!" "You're insane!" It made the room spin and the walls get all bendy.

Over time, I learned that when I was in the middle of one of these attacks, which I eventually figured out were profoundly spiritually malevolent, I had to just say something true.

It didn't matter what it was. "Oh, I see it is 4:15 pm" would be enough. Just saying something true broke the spell, or the storm, or whatever it was.

Because the truth is a Person.

Saying something true felt like a breathing tube to the surface, because these events felt like drowning. But when I said something simply true, I was choosing.

I was saying, no I will not believe the lie. I will not live in the lie. I choose the Truth.
