The FDA has never approved a vaccine for humans that is effective against any member of the coronavirus family, which includes SARS, MERS, and several that cause the common cold.

Agreed on the unlikely effectiveness of a vaccine.
The common cold is another example.
The flu vaccines are partially effective at best given the different strains of flu out there.
We will muddle through this, but an effective vaccine is not going to be a part of the answer imho.
