My wife and I went for a checkup a couple of months ago. We were both found to be severely vitamin D deficient, even though she spends a lot of time outdoors with her horses. Our doc prescribed 50,000 IU a week for eight weeks, then 5,000 IU a day forever to both of us. We are in the mid-Atlantic area.

Wonder if the prevalent vitamin D deficiency in the USA has anything to do with continual use of sunscreen every time people go outside.

Interesting. I’ve been taking 5k a day for years on my own. I get outside a lot too.

Interesting - my multivitamin provides 2000 IU of D3.

I've been reading a lot of labels lately - seems like a lot of foods do NOT have much Vitamin D in them. Milk does, but I don't drink it in great quantities like I used to.
