I used to shudder when I saw my plane was going to be a DC-10. I cannot fathom the dread when one finds out that their passenger plane is one having a shoddy safety record especially when we had a time where we seemed to have had crashes fairly often.

I used to be a jet mechanic in the Navy, and while I never knew anything about the innards of a DC-10, something always made me think it was a Frankenstein plane put together by Douglas to get an aircraft into the market.
