You are right that correlation is not necessarily causation.  But in this case, there is a pretty strong argument that the policies regarding shut down actions between Blue states and Red states is quite different.

Just look at the the like New York, New Jersey, Illinois, California, and Pennsylvania.  Their policies towards nursing homes, on the use and distribution of HCQ, and on the length and severity of their shutdowns...  it is the agenda of their leaders and the policies that they enact that have hurt their states.

I don’t disagree, it will be interesting to see what the data looks like in another month as the red states start to re-open. I am in IL and to be honest, while I empathize strongly with the small businesses, all the manufacturers I see have not been affected and the stores I go to have remained open, so the impact on my life has been virtually nil. But I’m in the red part of the state which is unfortunately subject to the mandates of J.B. (Jelly Belly) Pritzker who applies Chicago rules to all. I suspect the same is true of parts of upstate NY, for instance.

Today I saw a sign on a fairly busy rural road, fastened to a telephone pole that read “PRITZKER SUCKS”. I couldn’t agree more, and maybe one side-effect will be a backlash against One Party Democrat Rule which has ruined this otherwise wealthy and productive state.
