it wasn’t a recent request - there was a rule that REPs adopted akin to term limits and Grassley could no longer be chairman ... so they switched and then agreed that once past, they’d switch back. However that might still fit into the plan I’ve not further considered except I’m still unsure of Graham’s role here given his prior dedication to no name and the strange interchange + embrace with Huma at the funeral. Thank you for the explanation of the rule, Steven. I think the term is limited to 6 years but Senator Grassley only served 4. I was wondering aloud if the postponement of his final two years might have been planned, and if so, what others think the purpose might be.
This is just an example, but Senator Grassley oversaw the vast majority of PDJT’s judicial appointments. Maybe the team foresaw another set of important appointments in the next Congress; important by either their sheer number (removal/resignation of judges) or the type of judge (another Supreme Court pick - or two).
