By all means, use the pain meds as needed, but gradually reduce them as you can. I’m always scared of them, scared to the point that I got yelled at by a nurse for NOT taking them when I needed them after my shoulder surgery

I hear you there! I have been able to put further time between doses. Not ready to be off yet but I’m not one to stay on. Prefer to be awake for one thing.

The biggest problem I had with pain meds was that I couldn't poo. Despite a diet of salads and stool softeners, pooping was just not happening, or at least not in the manner to which I had been accustomed.
Don't mess with the cycle of Poo!
