Actually you have the case fatality rate (CFR), which is based upon those who were tested and found + (meaning mostly with symptoms which warranted testing, thus mostly likely to die, which are listed as clinical deaths) and those with symptoms that indicated COVID-19, but not tested, which death of such "probables" are listed as COVID-19. Yet this is a higher rate since it excludes the majority of infected for most show no symptoms or are not serious enough to warrant outside help, and thus have been unlikely to be tested. But I do think that both COVID-19 and the flu deaths are ascribed as both clinical and presumed.
Then you have the infected fatality rate (IFR)m which includes the estimated numbers of the infected, compared with deaths, which results in a lower number. However the more alarming case fatality rate is what is more often quoted.
Why does this show as a blank post to me?
Really? I thought the title of the thread included "(a place for Flubros and Flubras).
Am I mistaken in believing that "Flubras" was the opposition to "Flubros"?
Get off of my lawn, Karen.
:)
Latin. bro is the masculine bra is the feminine. Both male and female flubros are welcome here
Thank you for enlightening a guy who clearly thinks he’s the smartest person on FR. (though he does not know basic Latin apparently).
God help me, the older I get the more I actually do start to enjoy telling people to get the hell off my lawn!
Didn't know "bro" as in "It's the flu bro!" was a Latin word.
I thought the Latin for "brother" was more like Frater or some such and "sister" would be Soror, or some such because of "Fraternity and Sorority."
But thanks for explaining where they got the "bras". I must admit I have been scratching my head over that one for awhile.
So, this is an echo chamber thread for people who wish to believe this virus posed no significant threat to the people of America, other than from overreaction to it's perceived danger.
Okay then. Carry on. :)
Not much call for it nowadays. Dead language an all. Mostly just used to convince other people how smart someone is. They do the same thing with Greek in the medical field. Lawyers like their Latin.
Oh, and thank you for believing I think I'm the "smartest person on FR", though I have to decline that claim. I can name several other people on this forum which I think are quite a lot smarter than I am.
Your deliberate ignorance is neither charming nor endearing
No one's is.
You must also mistake my motives. Being charming and endearing is nice, but not particularly sought. Many's the time I'd rather be hated and correct, then loved and wrong.
I get into lots of arguments not because I want people to like me, but because I find it irritating when people are spreading crap. I regard it as injurious to civil society.
I just received the email today that our 100+ employee energy company will be having massive cuts over the next two weeks. The hysteria and panic caused by all the hand wringers in this country is about to become personal to me.
I am so sorry. My prayers are with you. It is a shame that those. quaint the pain are the ones most isolated from it
so stop spreading crap and injuring society. You have been proven over and over again to be one of those who does not know nearly as much as you think you don Dont bother to reply you are now in the list of people I ignore
sorry. that those who cause the pain
I’ve been wearing surgical masks when requested to do so. They don’t do diddly for incoming nasties. I walked by a store employee on a smoke break. The smell of smoke was just a vibrant when I quit smoking 20 years ago.
Yup. and they work equally well for outgoing nasties....
Would that you had added me to your list before you replied to me.
I am busted for a leading question.... :~)
Would that you had added me to your list before you replied to me.
Try calling her a proctologist and see if you are really on the list.
Totally agree.
Was the fear mongering and Doomsday posturing success? Was the mandatory strictures and restraints on a free people a success? Was prohibiting Church and Synagogue attendance a success?
It was all totally unconscionable.
