Have you ever heard of the term, the Yellow Dog Democrat?
That term means a person who would vote for a yellow dog over a Republican.
Case in point: I have a dear friend who has, unfortunately, acquired such a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that he posted this, under my Facebook repost of this very article:
Yeah, he is killing off all the underprivileged and non-white folk. Methodically. Any left won't have a USP to mail in their votes.
Wait, what?
His post was so wild and bizarre, that it informs me of several things:
- With this level of political insanity and disconnect from reality, that relatively loving and good men could be convinced to act in horrendous ways. "Trump is so evil," they would reason, "that any action, even mass murder, is justified to prevent his re-election." After all, Voltaire wisely said, “Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.”
- Second, it informs me that I have chosen well, in my political leanings. When those who are opposed to my view act completely off the rails, devoid of the slightest connection to that which is real, I become more sure of my views. As any thinking man must, it is important to continuously test your opinions. Seeing the opposition act so bizarrely is a data point that confirms my views.
