A friend gave me a couple ears of Goliath corn last year. I was going to try to grow it in a big tree pot I have, until I saw how big they can grow. 20 feet, unbelievable. He still amazes me from time to time. He’s been growing for a long time now an ancient type of maize that supposedly the seeds came from a cave in the southwest. He grows some ancient type of tobacco too. And I thought I had a green thumb, I really have to work at it. My Century plant has produced a lot of babies though, gifts that became table center pieces and became such beautiful little plants.

I can wield a 1911 probably better then most men, but you should have seen the grin on my old Dad’s face when I would shoot his Charter Arms .44 special Bulldog. The thing was like holding a rattlesnake, the recoil was incredible. All the shots were in the bullseye though. Annie Oakley up, brother. Marine ready.

I hope you have some pretty nurses. You know how to make a blonde smile on a Saturday? Tell her a joke on a Wednesday. When your nurses leave the room tell them “I’m glad you got to see me” They will appreciate the humor and maybe put a smile on your face too.

Love those 1911s!
I acquired this old warhorse from my wife's dad.

He was a lieutenant in the AF around 1957.
Did some research and found it was in and out of Rock Island Arsenal a few times. The slide is 1943, the frame is 1942, and the barrel is undetermined but correct for the period. Basically, it's a mishmash of surplus WW2 parts thrown together for a new officer. Which would be appropriate for that time period.
It was in his sock drawer for 60+ years.

I stripped it down, cleaned it up and oiled it up and took it to the range.

This is at 15 yards. The old soldier shoots real nice! I certainly was not prepared for the monster-heavy trigger pull. You have to really want that sucker to go off!

Anyhow, I hope you find a little enjoyment from my inheritance. :)
My family will add you to our prayers.
