Thanks! That is useful information. My dad had a musket years ago, which he sold. Still have his old black powder.

Try Ancestryarms.com. They have the real thing. Picked up an 1863 Springfield and 1826 Springfield there. Both originals. Might want to be careful about firing a 200 year old gun.

I have a replica Navy Colt .38 I bought from them. Changed the cylinder out so that it can take Cowboy round cartridges (low pressure). It’s a nice piece.

Try here Track of the Wolf. They usually have some exceptional consignment arms, even if expensive.

This Isaac Haines Longrifle, .54 caliber, 42" swamped octagon barrel, has better looking relief and inlay than most. But it is very expensive.

It has been decades since I’ve been there, but you may want to try a visit to Silver Dollar City. My father actually bought a black powder kit from there (in the 70’s) and it still works pretty well.
