I had a boot camp friend that dropped his old drill rifle and it broke the stock right behind the reciever. We were drilling behind the barracks and the Company Commander (a 1ST Class Navy Gunners mate) showed up. He wanted to know why the ???? the guys piece was in two pieces. The Gunners Mate melted down. Then the idiot next to him laughed. We were at attention. Suddenly the first boot had laughing boys piece and he had a piece that was in two pieces. Basic sucks. Probably not as much as wrestling a snake over a cat but either way someone’s gonna suffer.
