[I wasn’t a fan of Cutler, but the amount of work and effort it takes to make it to the NFL — even if you’re not great at it — is much more than most people see. It basically absorbs your entire life.

Not just the NFL. Pretty much since he started playing football. People who make it to that level have been going at it flat-out since they started throwing the ball around. The guy’s been working like a demon at it for over 20 years. It’s just that until he was drafted by a pro ball team, he wasn’t being paid for it.
