It could be a reasonable assumption. But it is not going to keep them out of trouble because they had no authority to confront him . Neither were deputized or sworn Officers of the law. the guy presented no threat or danger to them. They were not required to confront him as a sworn Officer may have had to do.And last but not least, they unlawfully initialed the confrontation. Once they did that, they negated any claims to self defense they had. The State Prisons are full of individuals that have done that. They may still beat the rap, but it is going to cost them. Judging by their mug shot I doubt if they have the cash or anything that they can convert to enough cash. Again, judging by their mug shot, I seriously doubt that they have the political pull because they don' appear to be win friends/influence types. Barring a miracle, that only leaves them hanging two juries. Or perhaps you could set up a gofund me account for them.

Btw, I have no idea on where a trial would go, but I know the defense is going to have a hell of a time explaining the decedents behavior and actions depicted in that video.
You can actually see the decedent at one point going right at the neighbor with the gun, on the drivers side of the truck, driver door open, then he does a quick pivot right, running to the right at the rear of the truck, then up the passenger side of the truck, pivots left in front the truck, and goes right in for the attack on the neighbor with the gun.
