so I don’t take a thing I hear from them at face value. Everyone in Washington has an agenda and we the people pay the price.

That is a good practice, but it is just as much of an error to reject everything they say as it is to accept everything they say.

We should weigh what is said, and only believe that which makes sense or is plausible. Even then we should keep in the back of our minds that they are probably lying about something.
